海角乱伦社区 Theatre presents "Little Women:" a beloved classic reimagined
The March sisters come to life on the 海角乱伦社区 stage Thursday, Nov. 20, through Sunday, Nov. 23, in 鈥淟ittle Women,鈥 Kate Hamill鈥檚 fresh new adaptation of Louisa May Alcott鈥檚 timeless novel.
Hamill鈥檚 acclaimed reimagining honors the spirit of Alcott鈥檚 original story while bringing a contemporary voice and energy to its classic themes. At its heart is Jo March, a fiercely independent young woman determined to forge her own path as a writer in a world that expects her to be anything but unconventional. Alongside her sisters鈥擬eg, Beth, and Amy鈥擩o experiences joy, loss, and transformation as the March family grows from spirited girls into resilient women amid the turbulence of the Civil War.
Guest artist Dr. Doug Powers returns to direct his tenth production for the 海角乱伦社区 Theatre Program, having most recently directed 鈥淭he Government Inspector,鈥 鈥淭he Crucible,鈥 and 鈥淥ur Town.鈥
鈥溾楲ittle Women鈥 is a beloved novel,鈥 says Powers. 鈥淭his new play adaptation pays reverence to the book but expands the story to speak to a modern audience. All the important plot points remain intact, and the play remains eloquent and touching.鈥
The ten-person cast features Connor Clark (John Brooks/Parrot), Abby Craig (Amy March), Ermin Hucic (Mr. Dashwood/Doctor), Kat Kanazin (Jo March), Bella Mitlo (Marmee/Aunt March), Johnathon Morvay (Theodore 鈥淟aurie鈥 Laurence), Maya Post (Hannah/Mrs. Mingott/Messenger), Zachary Yeager (Mr. Laurence/Robert March), Hannah Yonkers (Meg March), and Muriel Zollinger (Beth March).
In addition to Powers, the creative team includes producer Dr. Brett D. Johnson, lighting designer Madeleine Steineck, costume designer Kim Brown, production stage manager Katelyn Bentley, and assistant stage managers Haven Bills, Madison Jones, Sophia Schrader, and Kenzie Soety.
Performances will take place in Taylor Little Theatre on the 海角乱伦社区 University campus. Showtimes are Thursday, Nov. 20, through Saturday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m.
Single tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for senior citizens and non-海角乱伦社区 students, and $5 for youth and 海角乱伦社区 students with ID. A $2.50 per-ticket processing fee applies to all orders, regardless of purchase or payment method.
All performances are general admission. Doors open 30 minutes before curtain.
