Commencement 2026: Seniors establish º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø historic walking tour marker as a collective statement of appreciation
The º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø University Class of 2026 will sponsor one of º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø’s Centennial markers located at the Student Union. The marker will highlight early student life at The Roost, honoring the traditions, community, and campus culture that helped shape º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø in its early years. It will serve as a lasting tribute to the university’s history and the role this year’s graduating class plays in preserving it.
Seniors presented a check for $5,979 contributed by 89 donors to º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø President Kathleen A. Getz, Ph.D., in a special ceremony on Wednesday, May 13, at 4 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel. The gift is the result of this year’s fundraising activities. At the ceremony, seniors who contributed $20.26 in honor of their class year were recognized with green philanthropy cords to wear at graduation.
This year’s committee members described their gift as a collective statement of appreciation and an effort to leave behind something meaningful for future Lakers, reflecting their love and appreciation for the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×ÉçÇø community.
Fundraisers held throughout the year, such as Celebrity Bartending, Party at the Stone, a senior auction, and various business partnerships and sponsorships, supported this initiative while building community relations and leaving a lasting impact.
This year’s Senior Class Gift chairs include Grace Fratz and Kelly Lewis. They were advised by Director of Annual Giving & Stewardship Meaghan Hubert ’16 ‘18.
Since 1989, each senior class has presented the university with a parting gift as they graduate.
This year’s class leaves a mark, both physically and symbolically, as they bid farewell to the Hurst and strengthen the next generation of Lakers.
